Service Event: Mardi Gras Gala

This Mardi Gras Gala benefits Akron’s Victim Assistance Program (VAP) and is their only fundraiser. 10-15 volunteers are needed to assist with event set-up, clean-up, silent auction, raffle tickets/other games and sales to help raise funds for those in our community who benefit from services provided by VAP. Torchbearers will be paired together in all tasks & activities. There will be a sign-up for 4-hour block of time. The time of the event listed is the range and volunteers will be needed in 4-hour blocks.

VAP provides a mix of community support and basic needs for survivors/victims, etc of crime and trauma. Their mission is to: empower our community to restore lives impacted by crisis, violence, and tragedy. VAP provides services to 5,000 victims a year. The population served are victims of crime and trauma in Summit County.

This is a TB5 Service Event, worth 5 service points. Dress Code: Cocktail or business professional. Most importantly, wear something comfortable, as volunteers will be on their feet.

VAP expresses gratitude for all of its volunteers before the event and provides food at no cost to volunteers prior to the event. Torchbearer members are encouraged to wear their Torchbearer badges so they can identify themselves and be aware of their presence during the event.
