Torchbearers and Akron Urban League Young Professionals are partnering to host a forum-style discussion with the presumptive mayor of Akron, Shammas Malik. It will give young professionals in the Torchbearers and AULYP organizations a chance to have their voices heard by him regarding the future of Akron. This event is available to members of either Torchbearers, Akron Urban League Young Professionals, alumni of either organization, and their families.
The event will be in the Lock 3 Commons room, which is indoors. It is the room in-between the concessions booth and the Akron Children’s Museum. You can get there through a door in the alley underneath the parking garage.
Food will be provided, as well as one drink ticket per guest. A cash bar will be available after that.
The Akron Children’s Museum (directly across the hall) will be opening its doors at this time exclusively for us to use at no cost to families. Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible, so we are also attempting to secure an official childcare partner. Unless we can secure a childcare partner, children must be supervised in the Children’s Museum—details to follow.
This event will be in-person only.
