As the calendar turns into April, we are still living in an unprecedented time.

Safety remains our highest priority.

We continue to follow guidelines, so all service events continue to be postponed until further notice. Most committees have gone to virtual meetings.

Our Board Meeting on 4/14 will also be virtual. In full transparency, this pandemic will not end overnight. Thus, during this meeting, our board will begin preliminary discussions around what 2020 looks like organizationally and for the remainder of the year.

Through this time, we have seen some remarkable collaboration in our community. Many of our organizations, including our client facing ones and healthcare organizations have been working diligently to serve the community we call our home. Individuals, especially those essential staff who have been asked to go into work, continue to be our unsung heroes in this historic time. I am at a loss of words for what that commitment and passion means. We’ve had many of our own members do remarkable things from creating a website (thanks Byron and Kirsten)! to being selected for an inaugural accelerator program at Bounce (Congrats Tiffany!).

Additionally, there are also other resources in our community. Many of these are a result of a collaborative approach:

  • Today, 4/1/2020, Census Day. Be sure you respond and then spread the word!
  • Resource Database: 2-1-1, both locally and nationally, has very up to date information (food, utilities, housing, among other services) for those looking for immediate need. The website has a lot of the information or you can simply call “2-1-1”. 2-1-1 Website
  • Resource Guide for Employers and Employees: Greater Akron Chamber (in collaboration with others) has put together a guide for how businesses are impacted. GAC Website.
  • Gig/Creative Entrepreneurs/Contract Employees: ArtsNow has compiled specific Resources around those impacted in the arts and culture seen specifically. ArtsNow Website.

While we deal with this crisis, both as an organization and community, we are all mindful of the short-term impact, the long-term impact, and the “super” long-term impact that many organizations and businesses will face. Although we may not look the same when all is said in done, as community leaders, I know we will continue to give back and make sure we can rebuild and be stronger than ever.

As always, you know how to reach me if you have any questions!

The safety of our members and our community remains our highest priority.

For that reason the Officers of the Board of Directors and I are cancelling all in-person committee meetings and service events effective immediately, until further notice.

If committees still want to meet virtually, we will offer conference calling information. Please reach out to me.

This is an unprecedented time for our country, state, county and our organization. We appreciate everyone’s continued support. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks as always.

In light of recent advancements around COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the Officers of the Board and I have decided to cancel our first General Membership Meeting on 3/24/2020.

The safety of our members is our first and highest priority.

The decision to cancel was difficult and not taken lightly, and will communicate important information to members via email. So please continue to check your TB Weekly every Thursday.

Additionally, to that end, the co-chairs of each of the committees are empowered to make their own decisions regarding their respective committee meetings.

At this time the Leadership & Development Session on 4/4/2020 is on as scheduled. We will send any updates via email if this changes.

If anyone has questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly (vbhatt22@gmail.com).

Thanks for understanding.
