TB2CLE: Torchbearers take a road trip to Cleveland

This past August, a group of Torchbearers drove north to Cleveland to learn about the revitalization efforts taking place in the downtown and surrounding areas. Similar trips have been taken in the past to Detroit, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Cincinnati.

#TB2CLE began with a mixer with the Cleveland 20/30 club in the Flats with a Torchbearers dinner following. Monday was a packed day that included visiting one of the Cleveland Script Signs and a small tour and presentation by Sean McDermott, the Chief Planning and Design Officer of the Cleveland Metroparks Organization. Sean spoke about the importance of providing safe and welcoming areas within the Metroparks, especially in the Edgewater Park area.

From there, the TB2CLE group met up with Councilman Kerry McCormack of the 3rd Ward of Cleveland in Ohio City. Learning about what made Ohio City, “Ohio City” was fascinating. The inclusion of the neighborhood, embarking on the history, while still making it a destination location engaged our members fully.

With some exploration time built in, including members joining in on the “Bird” scooter craze, the TB2CLE eventually reconvened at Ohio City Provisions as Adam Lambert described having fresh locally grown food within the city limits.
