L&D Session #2: Communication

The theme of this session is “Communication” and the agenda is here. We will explore this topic using the DISC^® Profile. The objectives of the session are to:

• Understand your own and others’ styles of communicating
• Explore how understanding communication styles can enhance leadership and teamwork

Pre-Work

Please allow about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete the three steps of the pre-work.

Please complete Step 1 by Friday, April 9^th.

1. Complete the DiSC^® Profile online assessment by Friday, April 9^th. You will receive an email from Diana Smith at Xerox containing a link to complete the assessment. If you can’t find the link, please email Diana directly for assistance: Diana.Smith@xerox.comThe title should read: “COMDOC has registered you for: Everything DiSC Workplace Profile” and would come from this email address:  “comdoc@wiley-epic.com   Let Jeremy Lile know if you did not receive the email with the link to the assessment ASAP so that we can make sure to get you your code.

• The DiSC® Profile identifies an individual’s natural communication behaviors based on their personality style. This assessment leads to better understanding of one’s own behaviors and communication style, and allows individuals to more effectively adjust their own style when communicating with others.
• After you complete the assessment, you will be prompted to download your report. You will ALSO have access to an online portal with additional information about your DiSC style, beyond what is in your report.
• At a minimum, read your report to learn about the DiSC dimensions and your profile.
• Please have an electronic copy of your report available to you at the workshop

Complete the two steps below by Monday, April 12^th.

2. Complete the Growth Commitment, Strengths Interview Guide, Core Values, and Personal Mission Statement from last session (pages 11-15 in the materials). We will be sharing our personal mission statements during the session.
